The Meaning In The Word Atonement

From the context of the Christian Holy Scriptures the word ‘atone’ (verb) or ‘atonement’ (noun) is one of the most misunderstood by all those who claimed to profess the Christianity. This is not because of any erroneous rendering of the word by the Christian Bible translators of the original text ‘כָּפַר [kaphar]’ and also ‘כִּפֻּר [kippur]’. Mostly rendered as the English word ‘atonement' and ‘atone’ in the English language Christian Bible, the original text ‘kaphar’ (and also ‘kippur’) carried the main concepts of removing through purging or cleansing, or a payment to enable a reconciliation or as an appeasement. The derivative meaning from these is also the concept of payment as a restitution and also that of reparation.

Most modern dictionaries have the word ‘atonement’ to mainly mean to make amends or as a reparation for a wrong doing or an infringing act, that is as a reparation to redress or correct a wrong or an infringement. Aside from other meanings, many dictionaries also have the meaning of ‘atonement or atone in the Christian religious context to carry the meaning of the reconciliation of humankind to GOD through the sacrificial death of JESUS CHRIST.

The Significance Of  The Day Of Atonement In The Christian Faith And Covenant

The Day of Atonement is one of the seven Annual Sabbaths or Feasts of the Christian faith or religion. Similar to the seventh day weekly Sabbath rest as a day of worship and Holy Convocation (i.e. of assembly), the Annual Sabbaths too are days of rest and worship.

In traditional “Christianity”, especially so with the Christmas religion the truth of the Day of Atonement as a Feast and a day of Holy Convocation carried no real meaning as these evil religions preached it as something that is irrelevant andor done away with. For these evil religions the word ‘atonement’ carried only the meaning of reconciliation in the act of JESUS dying to save humankind.

If anyone were to check the doctrines of the Christmas religion and also most other variations of so called “Christian” religions we would find them explaining or defining the word atonement as the reconciliation to GOD made solely (with no other requirement) or fully (with only the requirement to believe the Gospel while at the same time doing away with the need to obey what the Gospel commanded) by the sacrifice of HIS SON dying on the cross. While in the mother church of the Christmas religion, penances and other intermediary appeals are also included as a means to seek reconciliation with their Triune God, aside from obedience to their ruling Pope and priesthood.

For the discussion of the Triune God of the Christmas religion please look out for the future post, 'The Triune Gods and Goddess of the Babylonian Mystery Religion' in this blog.

It is definitely true that the sacrificial death of the SON of GOD as ‘the LAMB of God who takes away the sin of the world’ was the crucial first step of the process that enabled humankind to avail of the grace and mercy to receive forgiveness through repentance, in order that we may be reconciled to our CREATOR and GOD in and through the New Covenant made in the BLOOD of LORD JESUS CHRIST.

The evil doctrines of the Christmas religion (also others which laid claims to being Christians) hid the full meaning of ‘atonement’ of the Day of Atonement by focusing exclusively only on that of the sacrificial death of the ‘LAMB of God’. In so doing they have effectively hidden from humankind the only way to avail of the grace that allows humankind to receive forgiveness that came through this sacrificial payment by the SAVIOR of humankind, JESUS CHRIST, by which the New Covenant was instituted, ordained (i.e. made by a commandment, and determination or will of GOD) in and by the BLOOD of LORD JESUS.

The full concept of atonement in the Christian faith and worship have four main elements, the first of which was the sacrificial death of the ‘LAMB of God’ as payment for the penalty of sin incurred by all of humankind. This is the reparation and ‘covering’ context.

The second element is that of repentance, to turn from disobedience and rebellion (i.e. the transgression against GOD), signified by and symbolized in baptism as a dying and burial of the former attitude and mind (of a treacherous self serving lust), to that of a faithful and trusting obedience to GOD honoring, keeping and performing ALL of HIS commandments and institutions. This is the appeasement and reconciliation context.

The third element is that of purging and cleansing of sin as symbolized by the Feast of Unleavened Bread that followed immediately after the Passover. This is the purification and sanctification context.

The last element is the rightful assignment of rightful justice or the judgement on all sins to the source and primary instigator and originator of sin in the creation. This source is symbolized by the `aza'zel goat in the ceremony of the Feast of Atonement or the Day of Atonement during the time of the Old Covenant. This is the retribution and judgment context that completes the atonement process. All these then together the (Great) Judgment also complete the process of creation (and the salvation of all) of humankind, with all those who repented from the Second Resurrection changed into Spirit personages while the wicked unrepentant will be destroyed forever in Gehenna’ fire.

These are all recorded in the Christian Holy Scriptures and that is also the reason almost the entirety of those who professed the Abrahamic religions don't believe it. In fact few even know that this was what the Christian Holy Scriptures recorded and taught, even as this had been clearly and plainly recorded in these Scriptures which began to be available for all to see since some two thousand years ago. The whole of humankind are been screwed between science and religions. While science has been micro and tunnel focused on process and mechanics and deliberately refuses to understand purpose, false religions have been micro focused on instances of purpose and deliberately refuse to understand process.

They Are Blest Who Are Forgiven

"They are blest who are forgiven, To whom God impute no sin;
Who go to the Eternal, And confess to Him their sins.
Whose iniquities are covered, Whom the Lord does instruct!
Saying, I will direct you In the way that you should go."

"Many sorrows have the wicked, Who know not the way of God.
Be not as mules or horses, Which are held by bridles strong;
But be glad in the Eternal, And rejoice all you just;
Shout for joy all you upright; In whose spirit is no guile."

"Day and night God's hand was on me, And I groaned till I confessed.
My sins I laid before Him; Quickly He forgave them all;
Every godly one shall pray thus, While the Lord may be found;
So be glad all you upright; All you righteous, shout for joy!"

Psalm 32

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah
I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You
In a time when You may be found;
Surely in a flood of great waters
They shall not come near him.
You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
